Kenya’s landscape extends vertically as well as horizontally—offering climbers and abseilers a surprising variety of routes.
In Hell’s Gate National Park, you’ll find bolted sport climbs on Fischer’s Tower and Central Tower, as well as abseils down the gorge walls under the guidance of experienced local operators. Tsavo West National Park presents technical ascents of Roaring Rocks and Chaimu Crater’s rim, while Mount Longonot offers loose-scree scrambling on its inner walls before a rewarding crater-floor descent. For a canyoning-style experience, Mount Kenya’s alpine rock bands can be negotiated under permit, and in Laikipia Conservancies, private guides set up multi-pitch climbs on Ol Pejeta’s granite outcrops.
